There is no grace period on a new car
A new car is not protected because it is new. It is simply undamaged, and it stays that way for exactly as long as it stays off the road.
The chips start on the drive home
The first motorway trip is the first motorway trip. Cars arrive here with a bonnet chip and two hundred kilometres on them, and by then the choice is film over a chip or paint correction first.
Transport film is not protection
The white film on a new car is there for the ship and the truck. It comes off at handover and protects nothing after that — it was never paint protection film, and it is not sold as it.
Factory paint is already cured
It was baked at the plant, so it is hard when you collect it. Film can go on the same day. A respray is the opposite case and does need weeks to gas off first, which is where the myth comes from.
Book the bay before you have the car
The bay is the part that runs out, not the film. Tell us the delivery date while it is still a date, and the car goes from the dealer to us instead of to the motorway.

Should I wait for the paint to cure?
Not on a factory finish. It is baked at the plant and fully hard by the time it reaches the dealer, so film can go on the day you collect it. A respray is the case that genuinely needs to gas off first — if a panel has been redone, tell us and we will wait.
The dealer offers paint protection as well.
Check what it is. Dealer paint protection is usually a sealant or a coating, and a coating is chemical — it helps with washing and gloss but it will not stop a stone. Film is a physical layer thick enough to absorb the hit. They are different products and they are often sold under the same two words.
Can you collect it from the dealer?
Some branches can, depending on the day and the distance. Ask when you book, and give us the dealer name — it is easier to arrange while the date is still a date.
My delivery date moved.
They usually do. Tell us and the bay moves with it. That is the reason to book on a date rather than on a car.
Can I just do it later?
You can, and plenty of people do. The difference is that every kilometre before it is unprotected, and any chip already there has to be corrected before film goes over it — which costs more than the booking would have.
PPF or ceramic coating on a new car?
PPF first, on the panels that take impact, then coating over the top if you want the gloss and the easier washing. A coating over bare paint still leaves the paint taking the stones.
